ExhibitionThis exhibition presents a selection of works by Level 3 Diploma in Fine Arts students which explore ideas of strangeness and subversion. The works were selected by four Level 3 students—Derek Chau, Juliana Cunningham, Raigo Law Haizhi and Rinny Trihani Trihartono—who have used the exhibition as a way of learning about processes of exhibition organisation and conceptualisation.
The title of the exhibition reflects the idea that truths often remain hidden in human relationships. Underlying mechanisms, mysterious messages and suppressed emotions form the themes of several works. Other works explore notions of the macabre through visual forms and the manipulation of found objects. The works were made by the students during two studio modules: Text, Image & Sound, and Assemblage: Reality and Fiction. During these modules, the students explored the symbolic meanings associated with specific words, images, sounds and gestures, as well as everyday experiences as starting points for visual content.
