ExhibitionThis exhibition presents works by students from Level 2, BA(Hons) Fashion Media and Industries and BA(Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles.
The students’ works interpret the concept of ‘modest fashion’ using one of three themes: religion, uniformity and minimalism. The resulting garments, accessories and images draw on various cultural contexts and traditions, from the philosophy of Zen Buddhism and the use of natural materials, to the enclosed state of North Korea and the pared-down aesthetics of minimalism. The design of the exhibition is inspired by shapes and materials used in minimalist design. Mirrors, shelving and suspended lengths of fabric create physical layers that both highlight and conceal the students’ works.
