STILL is a multidisciplinary project initiated by LASALLE lecturers, artists Joanne Pang and Salleh Japar. The exhibition presents works by Pang and Salleh along with catalogues and posters by students from the School of Design Communication.

Works on paper by Pang and Salleh explore the relationship between signs, language and memory. Catalogues and posters by the students draw on concepts of semiotics, text and images.

Joanne Pang (born Singapore 1986) makes drawings and paintings that reflect tangential states of the mind. Her abstract works investigate fluidity and spatial displacements, as well as constraints and relationships between organic and geometric forms inspired by nature and typography. She is a lecturer in the School of Design Communication.

Salleh Japar (born Singapore 1962) explores the confluence of ideas, identities and traditions in a postmodern context. His works often combine multiple media, such as painting, sculpture and drawing. Salleh’s current research focusses on Southeast Asian aesthetics: their symbolic and structural readings of space and craft, and their influence on contemporary art practice. He is a senior lecturer in the McNally School of Fine Arts.
