A line is a trajectory, a path, a journey. In mathematical terms, an asymptote is a curve that approaches the axes of x and y, yet never meets them. Much like an artwork, it is open-ended and gravitates towards infinite horizons.

Asymptote presents painting, drawing, photography, video, sculpture and installation by more than 50 Level 3 students from the BA(Hons) Fine Arts programme. The works have been developed by the students in their studios at LASALLE’s Winstedt campus, and represent their journey towards the final graduation exhibition in May. At this point in time, the works tip towards questions rather than answers, veering on the cusp of possible resolutions.

When viewed from above, the shapes of Praxis Space and Project Space could resemble the curves of an asymptote. The exhibition presents a survey of the diverse works developed by the students over the past year.
