SHORT COURSES
New! The Art of Paper Collage: An Introduction
Join Joanna Maneckji for a course in collaging. Explore this hands-on art form through active planning and learn how to collect paper, explore composition, create backgrounds and practice layering. You will learn how to make gift tags, bookmarks, a photo frame, a small composition and a card.
Please note that for this course, we will not be exploring mixed media collage or digital art-making tools.
What is collage? Collage has its origins in the French word coller, which means ‘to glue’ or ‘to stick together’. This art form is a result of gluing magazine and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paint, bits of coloured or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects to a piece of paper or canvas, to create a new piece of art.
