Rodrigo is a visual artist, designer, researcher and mentor. His artistic work revolves around analytical explorations of representation within culture, focusing on a complex, politicised and critical awareness of the photographic image.
His projects are presented as installations with photographs, video projections and objects. The mediums he uses include digital images, moving images and code. The relationship between photographic records, objectivity and truth drive Rodrigo's studio practice. He interrogates the documentary use of the camera, addressing photography’s technological idiosyncratic notion of trace and the history of the photographic medium, its uses and interpretation.
The topics he deals with are primarily home, belonging, place, and identity. His academic research currently focuses on digital archives and body technologies in Southeast Asia.
