Private Education Act
Private Education in Singapore
Established under the Private Education Act, the Council for Private Education is a statutory board empowered with the legislative power to regulate the private education sector. In addition to its role as the sectoral regulator of private education institutions, the Council facilitates capability development efforts to uplift standards in the local private education industry.
EduTrust and LASALLE
EduTrust is the quality assurance framework that is designed to differentiate the high quality education providers from within Singapore's private education industry.
In October 2011, LASALLE was awarded both EduTrust and Enhanced Registration by the CPE (Council for Private Education)
The EduTrust framework comprises six major components:
- Management commitment and responsibilities
- Corporate governance and administration
- External recruitment agents
- Student protection and support services
- Academic processes and assessment of students
- Quality assurance, monitoring and results
LASALLE recognises the importance the EduTrust framework and all legislations enacted by the Council for Private Education.
