Students at LASALLE join an ever-growing global community of artists, designers, musicians, dancers, actors, film makers, animators, arts managers and thinkers who benefit from the contemporary focus and innovative approach of LASALLE’s teaching philosophy.

The richness of the student experience at LASALLE is enhanced by the opportunities for exchange afforded by the diverse backgrounds of our entire student population.

From emerging young talents entering Diploma Level 1 to established professionals and practitioners looking to further their research and creative practice at Master’s level, every student at LASALLE contributes to and benefits from this hotbed of artistic activity.

Students at LASALLE are also adept at collaborating with other disciplines, getting a head start on how the creative industries typically work. This interdisciplinary interaction and collaboration is facilitated by an integrated arts campus in a world-class technology-enabled environment.

Where Student Life and Industry Experience Become One

Beyond just learning how to be the best arts and creative industry practitioners in your time at LASALLE, the practical and practice-based pedagogy also promotes industry collaborations and participation in competitions on a regional level, thus inculcating a sense of real-life experience that will hold you in good stead once you step into the environment of contributing to the economy at large.

LASALLE’s winning streak at major competitions, such as The Crowbar Awards 2011 organised by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents of Singapore, and the Singapore International Film Festival’s Silver Screen Awards 2011, was testament to the College’s world-class standards in arts education, as well as the incandescent talent of its student body.

LASALLE’s Faculty of Design produces programmes that are geared towards being intimately relevant to the advertising, design, and fashion industries of today’s world, which explains why the students are strongly encouraged to have their works represented and competing at a diverse range of events, including Young Guns (Regional/Asia Pacific), The One Show Young Ones SIlver Pencil Awards, D&AD Yellow Pencil Award, CSI Colour Award, Audi Fashion Festival, and London Graduate Fashion Week.

Meanwhile, Performing Arts students get a chance to be involved in thought-provoking and text-heavy theatre pieces that are cerebral and challenging to both the actors and its audiences, while also literally kicking up a storm on stage with recitals and concerts, dance showcases, and musical theatre extravaganzas; garnering rave reviews for being virtuosic in their chosen artforms of acting, dance, and music, or for their versatility as triple-threat performers.

Behind the scenes, Technical and Production Management students ensure the show goes on as scheduled, regardless of how many pitfalls pepper the process along the way.

If the film and broadcast media are what sets your heart pumping, then the Media Arts Faculty regime will position your fingers squarely on the pulse of that industry – equipping you with the knowledge and know-how to handle both short films and feature length productions from the opening credits to the wrap party, as well as helping you to develop networks by participating in competitions like the Silver Screen Awards at the Singapore International Film Festival.

You can also choose to specialise in Animation, where your childhood fantasies of anime creatures that come to live, and youthful obsession with comics can be honed to earn you a livelihood with the likes of top-lining companies like Double Negative, Industrial Light & Magic (Lucasfilm), and Sparky Animation.

Community Outreach

Life at LASALLE is not just all work and no play – in fact, some students have made time to work on social projects that benefit the needy, with projects such as Orientation Community Walkabout 2014, an afternoon that surprised and delighted the Bugis-Bras Basah Precinct community with biscuits and drinks; or LOVE in REVOLT: Social Playground, a three-day event that took place in August 2011 at the *SCAPE along Orchard Road, which helped raise a total of $80,000 to benefit five charities based in Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. Uniquely and Irrepressibly LASALLE.

From Open House to Orientation Week; from your first log-in to the LASALLE Student Portal to The LASALLE Show, a graduation showcase of exhibitions and performances by final-year students — life at LASALLE is an experience that you will remember for many years to come.
