:phunk studio has partnered with LASALLE College of the Arts to operate the TRANSMISSION: LAB within the college’s premise. :phunk hopes to transmit and share their experience and knowledge with the younger generation of creative talents. The objective is to form a collaborative experimental laboratory, a talent incubator, an atelier studio of sorts in which young artists and designers from different backgrounds and disciplines come together to develop the TRANSMISSION: 2010 project. :phunk will select and appoint 15 – 20 young talents to participate as apprentices and members of the TRANSMISSION: LAB. :phunk will also collaborate and mentor the members. The TRANSMISSION: LAB will also invite creative individuals from the international creative community and network to collaborate in the development of the project.

The TRANSMISSION: PROJECT, initiated by :phunk in 1999, is a cross-disciplinary, multi-media broadcast of collaborative explorations in contemporary art and design. It documents the progressive concepts and thoughts from an international showcase of creative minds in graphic design, fashion, product design, photography, illustration, motion graphics, film, interactive, architecture and fine art.

:phunk created TRANSMISSION as a creative platform to broadcast and showcase the studio’s ideas and works. It was established as a platform to connect and collaborate with the international creative community. The first edition titled, ‘TRANSMISSION’ was published in 1999. The second edition titled, ‘TRANSMISSION02: Utopia’ was published in 2002. It featured over 50 creative collaborators and talents from around the world. :phunk was invited to present ‘We Love Utopia’ at Magma Books, London.

The TRANSMISSION: PROJECT will be documented and presented annually through different platforms such as exhibitions, publications and on-line website. The project will commence in late 2010.

:phunk are currently seeking apprentices from different backgrounds and creative disciplines to join the TRANSMISSION: 2010 programme. The project duration is from March – November 2010. Applicants should be 25 or under, be open to new ideas and be able to use technical equipment related to their field. Young designers and creative talents from disciplines (but not limited to) such as Visual Arts, Arts Management, Graphic Design, Advertising, Illustration, Photography, Film/Video, Music, Interactive, Motion Graphics, Architecture/Environmental, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Product Design and Industrial Design are eligible to participate.
