Object is an exhibition of works in progress from the current candidates of LASALLE’s MA Fine Arts programme. This cohort has put together an exhibition that attempts to mark a certain point of development in their studio practice. All works displayed capitalises on the conditions of the gallery space as a kind of liquid testing ground – for it is these situations that the artists are able to address the vulnerability of their works and research concerns to the public. Particular aspects of the medium are carefully considered and tested to engender the various experiences of the senses in relation to their chosen area of research and conceptual development. The title, Object, is taken as a fluid noun, serving as an allegorical juxtaposition between possible/ impossible frames, as well as voicing the artists’ choice to such limits.
Object features the works of the following MA Fine Arts candidates – Natacha Arena, Cui Liang, Lucinda Law, Zaki Razak, Rubin Hashim, Igor Delic, Steven Lim, Rajinder Signh, Isabelle Desjeux, Edith Podesta, Rubin, Matthew Bax, and Xie Ying.
