Rendez-vous is an international platform organised by the Biennial of Lyon; the Museum of Contemporary Art Lyon; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Villeurbanne/Rhône-Alpes; and the National School of Fine Arts in Lyon. The platform invites curators from these institutions and 10 international biennales, including the Istanbul Biennial and the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, to nominate emerging artists at the forefront of their contemporary art scenes.
This exhibition—curated in collaboration with the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore—highlights connections between works by 20 nominated artists alongside works by 5 local artists selected by the ICA Singapore. Presented across the ICA Singapore’s largest galleries, the exhibition explores these artists’ innovative approaches to contemporary ideas, media and aesthetic experience.
The exhibition includes large-scale sculptures by Nicolas Momein (FR) and Nikita Kadan (UA), a special intervention in the galleries’ architecture by Chun Kaifeng (SG), a video projection by Angelica Mesiti (AU), and a film program dedicated to the work of artist and filmmaker Sherman Ong (SG).
Rendez-vous is organised in collaboration with the Biennale of Sydney, São Paulo Biennial, Shanghai Biennale, Kochi-Muziris Biennale, Gwangju Biennale, Dakar Biennale, Singapore Biennale, Istanbul Biennial, Kiev Biennale and the Los Angeles Biennial.
